Overview
ServerGuard
must be installed on every server that should be monitored.
ServerGuard consists of several shell script files written for the bash (sh)
shell.
The program has a daemon running in the background that monitors your server,
and every 15 minutes it checks the objects and then sleeps for another 15 minutes
and so on...
The set
up is done individually for every server SystemGuard is installed on.
In the setup you can specify the hours SystemGuard should not do any monitoring,
sutch as during backups, database shutdowns and etc.
SystemGuard
also has a feature that enables it to stop monitoring if a a certain
file is found under the /etc directory. This is usefull if you are doing system
maintenance
and don't want SystemGuard to monitor under that period. You just create this
file
under /etc and SystemGuard does not send any more monitoring warnigs.Remove
the
file and SystemGuard monitors again.
There is
also a script that can be run from cron that checks if SystemGuard daemon is
running, if it has stoped it is started.
